Advanced Practice Birth Support Program
Next training August 8-10, 2013
This program is designed and implemented in partnership with Mountain Midwifery and is held at the Mountain Midwifery Birth Center in Englewood, CO. It includes hands on training with birth center families, advanced practice topics for trained birth professionals, and orientation specific to the Mountain Midwifery Birth Center. Participants will engage in classroom, on site, and on line activities.
Purpose: To offer birth professionals enrichment that will ensure their success in the birth center environment including advanced practice skills particular to the birth center setting as well as orientation to the Mountain Midwifery Center and hands on work with birth center families.
Target Audience: Birth professionals interested in working in the birthing center environment who wish to advance skills related to this specific birthing atmosphere and have an opportunity to hone those skills in a hands-on learning program.
Format: Participants will attend three days of informative sessions during which speakers will present didactic information pertinent to the learning objectives. Each participant will attend one birth at the birth center as a part of the program. An ongoing online forum is available to participants.
Topics covered include anatomy and physiology of labor and birth, advanced breastfeeding support, doula care in the immediate postpartum period, scope of practice, advanced positioning techniques for labor and birth, herbal support for pregnancy, birth and postpartum, and much more.
Cost: $365 including all materials.
